Gusabad (Kusapat, Կուսապատ) is one of the historical villages of Artsakh, located in the Mardakert region of the Artsakh Republic, 11 km south-west of the regional center. The elevation is 776 m (2,546 ft). The village has 60 houses, 280 inhabitants, of which 40 are schoolchildren and 30 are preschoolers. Mainly Armenians, and some Greeks. The people of Gusabad are mainly engaged in cattle breeding and gardening. Gusabad is one of the oldest villages in Artsakh, founded in the 15th century by an Armenian Prince Atabek III Jraberdtsi. In 1992, the Azeris seized the village and destroyed it. About a year later, the village was liberated.

The $15,325 funds for the Varujan Karian School Gymnasium’s renovation were from the donations made in lieu of flower for Simon Karian, Verkin Gagosian, and Michael Kazanjian funerals.
The renovated gymnasium will be used for two purposes:
As a sport hall for the school kids as well as regional sport events.
As an assembly hall for local events such as performances, lectures, and community functions.

Project #94; Cost $500: In 2017, a Memorial Stone was erected at the Varujan Karian Memorial Fountain to engrave the names of deceased FOA organizing committee members. Then the second stone was added later in 2018.
Project #10; Cost $33,000: In 2001, Varujan Karian School was renovated with new water pipes, toilets, light fixtures, Stoves, and other miscellaneous repairs.
Project #4; Cost $118,876: In 1995, Varujan Karian School was Constructed in his memory. The cost does not include additional donated material sent from Los Angeles.
Project #3; Cost $7,200: In 1994, Varujan Karian Memorial Fountain was built. From 1995 to 2015, several small projects were implemented to sustain the structure.
