Stepanavan (Ստեփանավան), is a town and municipal community in the Lori Province of Armenia. It is located 139 km north of the capital Yerevan and 24 km north of the provincial center Vanadzor, in the center of Yerevan-Tbilisi highway. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town is 13,086. Currently, the town has an approximate population of 10,800 as per the 2016 official estimate.
Project #189: In 2021, FOA paid the cost of heating for one year for the Music School of Stepanavan; coordinated by Lusine Azoyan in Yerevan. Cost $1,200.
Project #85: In 2017-2018 the Polyclinic of Stepanavan was Reconstructed by the Armenian Territorial Development Fund (ATDF) for $366,000. The community contribution is provided by FOA with $15,016; sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Garo and Agavni Kurian and Mr. and Mrs. Dickran and Arlet Kurian.
The polyclinic serves the town of Stepanavan and the surrounding villages of about 24,000 people. Of which 9,000 are women, 8,000 are men, and 7,100 are children. The polyclinic is a two-storey construction built in the 70s, which consists of 4 buildings connected to each other with warm passages.
The Reconstruction of the polyclinic in the town of Stepanavan involved the following: The strengthening of the structure, construction of a new roof, replacement of the windows and doors, floors reconstruction, the overall renovation, and installation of internal and external engineering networks.
The area was improved, and pavement was restored. Also, examination of the technical conditions of the structure is needed to be determined the level of damage and measures necessary to satisfy seismic stability of the structure.
